Jean-Marie Massaud revisits the compositional language of the GranTorino HB sofa to give form to the GranTorino Bed. A design strategy used to create a truly complete and consistent collection.
Like the backrest of the GranTorino HB, the bed's headboard is on the generous size, becoming a distinctive feature. Its large surface area, rich polyurethane foam padding and polyester wadding and discreet x-stitching almost create a kind of panelling effect. However, its thickness is kept in check to provide a sense of lightness. The bed frame is secured to the headboard using a special technical solution, which makes it look as if it is simply resting there, letting it be in all its visual softness.
The combinations between materials are very sophisticated. The frame of the headboard and bed frame are entirely covered in Cuoio Saddle® Extra leather combined with an upholstery cover in fabric or Pelle Frau® Heritage leather, Nest leather, Soul leather or Pelle Frau® leather from the Color System. Other combinations include the headboard frame and bed frame in Pelle Frau® Nest leather, Soul leather or Pelle Frau® leather from Color System and the padded areas upholstered in the same leather or fabric. The back of the headboard can be upholstered in the same material as the frame or in Poltrona Frau Jacquard fabric.
