Kai

The name, KAI, is a Japanese word meaning ‘’ seashell’’. Playing with paper, was the start of this project. If you fold a piece of paper you get a crisp edge, and if you bend it you get a gentle but tensioned curvature and Azumi fixed the beauty of this natural phenomena as a chair. Stackable chair and armchair with frame in sandblasted stainless steel and seat in curved plywood or totally upholestered in fabric. Leather seat pad on request. Kai is suitable for interior use in such as home, office and restaurants.

Shin Azumi

Shin Azumi was born in Kobe, Japan in 1965. After finishing his MA in Industrial Design at the Royal College of Art in 1994, he started working as a design unit ‘AZUMI’. In 2005, he established his own office ‘a studio’ in London.
