Care should be taken when choosing a Marine Surveyor, the industry is unregulated meaning any individual can set themselves up and call themselves a Marine Surveyor
There are two internationally recognised British based organisations that represent surveyors. The International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) and The Yacht Desigers and Surveyors Association (YDSA). All
surveyors are vetted before they can join either of these organisations and to keep their membership both
organisations have systems which ensure continuous professional develoment.
Bodrum Marine Services surveyors are members of both organisations listed above and all also have specific marine surveying qualifications.
Our services, as surveyors and consultants are
indemnified by full professional indemnity insurance underwritten at Lloyds of London.

When your Yacht gets to a certain age, or there is a change in ownership your Insurance Company could require that you have a Survey for Insurance.
Bodrum Marine Services are recognised by most Insurance Companies, all our surveyors are experienced, hold qualifications in marine surveying and are members of surveying organisations including; International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) or The Yacht Designers and surveyors association (YDSA).
When an Insurance Company asks for a survey it is important that Bodrum Marine Services are provided with the details, this enables us to limit the survey inspection to the exact requirements of the Insurance Company making the survey cost effective for the yacht owner e.g. is a out of water inspection required, does the rig require inspection from aloft. Fill in the online survey enquiry form for a quotation.
A report is provided explaining the findings of the Insurance Survey. Within the report problems found during the survey are listed and information given on their importance and recommendations for repair. If you wish we can send the report directly to your Insurers.
The majority or the Insurance Surveys that Bodrum Marine Services carry out are known as out of water condition surveys, this type of survey is carried out with the yacht ashore (on hard standing). Other types of surveys that your Iinsurance Company could require are Damage Survey or Rig Survey. Contact us with your Insurance Company's specific requirements.
The Insurance Survey (condition survey) includes an inspection of the following:
Once the survey has been completed we guarantee to provide the survey report within ten working days but it is often delivered much sooner. We will spend the time to answer any questions about the survey and are happy to give any yachting advice.
To receive a quote for a Insurance survey, fill in the online survey enquiry form or contact us directly with you requirements.

The aim of a Full Condition Survey, commonly known as a Pre-Purchase Survey is to identify and detail the yacht's defects, so for a new buyer help them decide if they wish to proceed with the purchase of their chosen yacht.
The Full Condition Survey is normally carried out once a new buyer has decided which yacht that want. If a new buyer is still undecided the much less detailed Appraisal Survey could be considered, this survey only gives a superficial overview of the yacht's condition so is always followed by a Full Condition Survey before any purchase.
The Full Condition Survey is recommended if; you are buying a second hand yacht, having your new yacht handed over after delivery or having your yacht returned after the end of contract with a Yacht Charter Company.
Bodrum Marine Services have carried out Full condition surveys throughout The Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East and Europe including France and the UK. Surveys have been carried out on all types of Yachts including; sailing yachts and power boats both large and small and yachts constructed of various materials including; GRP, wood, steel, aluminium and composite. Each type of vessel and construction material requires a specific approach and equipment.
Bodrum Marine Services carries out full condition surveys in accordance with internationally recognised codes of practice drawn up by the international surveying organisations. All our surveyors are experienced, hold qualifications in marine surveying and are members of surveying organisations including; International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) or The Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association (YDSA). Our rates are competitive, fill in the online survey enquiry form for a quotation.
In our history of surveying we have had no customer disappointed when they have had a Full Condition Survey, either because they sail or motor away with confidence in their newly purchased yacht or happy that they have not proceeded with the purchase and taken on previously unforeseen yacht repairs.
The Full Condition Survey is a detailed survey to access the structural condition of a yacht as well as checking and testing the yacht's equipment. A detailed report is provided explaining the findings of the survey. Within the report problems found are listed and information given on their importance and recommendations for repair.
Generally for yachts up to and around 12 metres or about 40 feet the survey can be completed in one full day however it does depend on the type of yacht and equipment onboard. For yachts over this length the survey can run over two or more days.
Bodrum Marine Services are unique in that the price of a full condition survey includes; a sea trial on all yachts and rig inspection, including going up the mast on sailing yachts (if safe to do so).
The Full Condition Survey is carried out in three parts: In water inspection, sea trial then lift of the yacht followed by out of water inspection.
The inspection can be divided into the following areas:
Once the survey has been completed we guarantee to provide the survey report within ten working days but it is often delivered much sooner. We will spend the time to answer any questions about the survey and are happy to give any yachting advice.
