Michele de Lucchi & Philippe Nigro

Michele De Lucchi born in Ferrara in 1951, he graduated in architecture in Florence where he was Adolfo Natalini’s assistant. Since 1978, he has been working with Sottsass in Milan and he is one of the founding members of Memphis. Since 1979, he has worked as a design consultant for Olivetti Synthesis and, since 1981, for Olivetti. He has taught in the architecture department at Palermo University and at Cranbrook University in Detroit. He has received the Good Design prize and the Compasso d'Oro.

Philippe Nigro born in Nice, France, in 1975. Studied Decorative Arts (Bac F12, Industrial Design BTS at La Martinière in Lyon, DSAA Product & Furniture Design at Ecole Boulle in Paris), during which time he collaborated with C. Gardet and conceived the experimental garden “Ailleurs” at Chaumont sur Loire and the lamp “Flac” for a Habitat competition. Since 1999 is a freelance designer, developing projects for Nube Italia, Felicerossi, NavaDesign, and collaborates with the Studio De Lucchi in Milan, participating in numerous projects of product design, furniture, lamp, interior design, special event management and scenography for companies including Olivetti, Poltrona Frau, Artemide, Alias, Caimi, Feg, Listone Giordano…

In 2008 won 2nd prize for new “Autogrill” restaurants competition with M. Biffi. Since 2005 is supported by the VIA to take part in forward-thinking and experimental furniture projects, thanks to which he conceived the shelf “Spiral”, the modular boxes “Storage-Unit”, the sofas “Intersections” and most recently in 2009, the double chair “Twin-Chairs” and basement for tables “Tréteau/ Universal base”. Some of these projects are edited such as “Cross-Unit” by Sintesi in 2008. In 2009 the sofas “Intersection” announce the beginning of collaboration with Ligne Roset who edit them and develop the range under the name of “Confluences”, who won the German Red Dot prize Best of the Best 2009 and Young & Design competition. Most recently Piba Marmi allows him to develop the line of stone bathroom elements “Saturnia” and we see the beginning of a collaboration with the new Italian editor Skitsch, for whom he draws tables “Triangolazioni”, the shelf “Squilibri” and the cardboard chairs & tables for children, BuilUp.
